Chelsey Johnson writes fiction, nonfiction, and screenplays, including the novel Stray City (Mariner/HarperCollins, 2018). Her work has appeared in Ploughshares, The Iowa Review, One Story, Gulf Coast, The New York Times, Elle, Out, and NPR's Selected Shorts, among others. She received an MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and a Stegner Fellowship from Stanford, as well as fellowships to MacDowell, the Virginia Center for Creative Arts, Signal Fire Arts, and the Crested Butte Mountain Words Writer in Residence. She has been a professor of creative writing at Oberlin, William & Mary, and Northern Arizona University, and now works in the arts and culture sector. Born and raised in the north woods of Minnesota, she lives in the mountain Southwest.
